So, when I woke up and started my normal get the kids up/fed/dressed/out the door for school routine on Tuesday, I decided to be lazy and not get myself ready. Workout clothes, a huge comfy sweatshirt, no makeup, hair up with a headband, flip flops.
Nothing about me was put together. Even our cleaning lady (yes, we have a cleaning lady and, no, I do not feel guilty about this) asked me in Spanish if I was sick. I think she was a bit embarrassed when I replied that I was, in fact, exhausted, not sick. She shouldn't have been embarrassed. I looked the part.
And by the end of the day I felt like shit. Not to say that I have to be dressed to the nines everyday, but a good shower, blow dry and a dab of makeup goes a long way for your mental health. Even if you happen to be wearing workout clothes. Let's not go so far as to ban those yoga pants that are almost a necessity for this post-two-babies body of mine.
So yesterday, since the kids decided to give me a six in the morning wake up call, I took advantage of Ellie's first nap of the day and got myself properly ready and dressed. The rest of the day went by much more productively, and positively, than the one before.
I can say the same thing about making my bed - if I make my bed, my day is ultimately more productive.
Anyone else have things they "must do" each day to get themselves going?
