Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and, being HUT's first Valentines at Mother's Day Out, I wanted to make something clever and cute for him to give his classmates. One of the children has some pretty serious food allergies, so I decided to hunt down a cute idea for something to pass out that didn't involve candy. I hate the thought of a kiddo not being able to fully participate because of something outside of his control, so I started hunting Pinterest for some ideas.
I came across this Pin and thought it was so cute...
But I didn't want to deal with making the labels. Then I found this alternative and thought it'd be perfect!
It just so happens that HUT received a
24-pack of Play Doh
for his birthday, so I opened it up and found that there were 10 different shades of pink, purple and red inside - exactly how many I needed. Since we only play with one at a time, supervised, I figured that he wouldn't miss the extra colors (and I will replace them in time). And it saved me the time of figuring out the logistics of taking both kids out in public together on my own. Which has yet to happen. Because it still makes me a bit nervous.
So I hopped on my computer and designed this in Illustrator to put on each one...
I used a
2" Punch
to create the holes. Is there a trick to using these things? I ended up having to redesign the labels so that I could punch the holes in the center. It worked out, but took me a bit to figure out.
It ended up taking all of 30 minutes to put these together and I think it's fun for the kiddos. Hopefully the parents don't all hate me for sending Play Doh home with the kids. ;)
LOVE these! I'm sure they'll be a hit!
