Our holidays were nice and uneventful (which is a good thing these days). HUT loved opening his presents this year and, no matter how much we tried to limit the amount of gifts he received, there were still a ton. HUT has no problem pacing himself, however, and he made sure to enjoy each gift before wanting to open another. This means that we spent three days opening his gifts, which was pretty fun.
In case you don't remember, HUT and my mom happen to share the same birthday. One of my good friends, who has come back into my life after 10 years, actually has the same birthday as well. Since we had mutual friends in town from Alaska, we had a little dinner party at our house and the three got to blow out their candles together! I had a custom cake made for each one that reflected their personality.

No big party for HUT this year, which makes me feel uber guilty as a mommy, but he didn't even seem to notice. He had presents, loved ones around, and cake - all of which seemed to be just fine with him. Next year we'll make up for the fact that I was as big as a boat and too tired to put anything together.
HUT has also found his singing voice and has both "Jingle all the way - hey!" as well as "Happy Birthday to you!" in his repertoire. It's pretty awesome, and hilarious, to watch.
As for New Year's Eve and Day, we did a whole lot of nothing. We were all asleep by 10 and, if it hadn't been for the fireworks waking up HUT, I probably wouldn't have even seen midnight. We managed to take down all of our Christmas decor (nesting can have its advantages during the holidays) and make a couple of delicious meals to ring in the new year, but, otherwise our celebrations were minimal.
So, now that all of the holidays are out of the way, it really is time to sit around and wait for this baby girl to arrive. Preferably after the 11th, as the U is on a mandatory business trip in California. So I'm sure she'll decide that now is the best time to arrive.
Hope that everyone had a nice past couple of weeks! Here's to hoping the next time I update here it'll be with a picture of Miss Ellie!

sounds like a fun and low-key holiday, which is awesome. anxiously awaiting ellie now (as well as my little guy, who is due the 20th)!
