Christmas Cookie Decorating

Yesterday, HUT and I ventured to one of his classmate's homes to decorate cookies after I picked him up from school. I'm always a bit nervous when it comes to meeting other mommies, especially ones with kiddos near the same age, because I feel like everyone can get a tad judgmental. These women were super nice, though, and it was fun to watch all of our kids interact.

Although I must admit - HUT needs to work on his sharing abilities... and his bossiness. He get's that from his momma, I'm afraid.

So my duty for the party was to provide to cookies that we'd decorate. I searched around online and ended up using the sugar cookie recipe that I found on this site:

I added the almond extract like she suggested and they were pretty good! They only took 8 minutes to cook in the oven, so keep an eye on your cookies because they will go from light to DARK brown in just a matter of seconds.

Aside from sprinkling a bit here, and putting some M&Ms on the cookies, I ended up decorating more while HUT played with all the cool new trucks he'd discovered at his friend's house. Here are some of my lovely cookies:

My mom and I plan to decorate cookies for Santa with him one more time before Christmas and I'm hoping we'll be able to keep his attention a bit more because it was so fun to watch him get a little messy to decorate the cookies!
