Halloween Costume Woes

Well, it looks like one thing has definitely fallen to the wayside during the chaos that has been our life for the past month or so:

HUT's Halloween costume.

I'm seriously at a loss. Earlier this year I was going to do the Cat in the Hat. Then we changed it to Puss in Boots. Now I just want to come up with something clever, inexpensive and somewhat homemade. I figure that we've got plenty of years that lie ahead where I'll be purchasing the pre-made character costume du jour that HUT will absolutelymusthavemommyplease, so for now I'd like to satisfy my need for a cute, creative costume.

Here's what he's currently obsessed with:

Trains
Cars

Well, trains and cars. That's about it. Occasionally we throw an airplane into the mix. Last year I really put thought into it. I also wasn't pregnant, moving and losing my mind. It was a super simple outfit, but I'd like to think that it came together swimmingly:

So, any cute ideas for this year? I'm sure I'll pull something together, but right now I'm at a loss. I have about 12 days to go, so here's hoping!
