Fall Coffee Frou

Around here we call it coffee frou - you might call it sweetener, creamer, etc. In our home we go through quite a bit of it, but we've always heard about all of the crap that they load into it which I never really bothered to care much about until I got pregnant.

Yes, I drink coffee whilst preggo. My doc allows two caffeinated beverages a day, so my cup of coffee in the morning is not to be missed.

My mom searched around online and found a recipe, which is all over the Internet, for homemade coffee frou. Here's how I took my spin on it, which probably isn't far off from any others that you've seen out there:

Ingredients
1 14 oz. can Condensed Milk
14 oz. Milk (you can use any type you prefer, I've been using 2%)
3-4 capfuls of vanilla
Cinnamon
Pumpkin Pie Spice

Directions
Combine the condensed milk and regular milk in a pan to heat. Add vanilla and spices to your liking and stir. Once all is heated and mixed well, transfer to whatever container you prefer to keep it in (we use something similar to this). Let it cool off and then you can keep it in the fridge.

People say it can last up to 10 days in the fridge. It usually doesn't make it past a few days in our home so I haven't tested that just yet. You could easily add any other extracts or spices that you prefer, but I'm a sucker for pumpkin and, so far, everyone in our house seems to prefer this to the stuff in the stores.

It's much cheaper than buying the bottled stuff at the grocery store, especially if you can get your ingredients while they are on sale.

Enjoy!
