I really thought that I'd just buy the rumble seat for my
Uppababy Vista and call it a day once we had baby dos, but now the tunes in my head are a changin'. Go figure.
I think the way
that the U is about new cars is how I am about new strollers. I want the latest model. The best brand. The highest rated. And 2012's highest ranked double stroller, according to my Google searching, has led my mind to wonder.
And so, while I am not sure if I want to take the plunge and am going to research it a bit more, I think that this might be what I'm leaning towards as a family with two kiddos:
{ Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller
}
What makes me apprehensive to splurge on another pricey stroller is the fact that I can barely get HUT to stay in the nice one that we already have. However, I know that there will be times when we will need something for both kiddos and I'm loving some of the features of the Bumbleride Indie (I can put the carseat on one side, with HUT in the other, it holds up to 90 lbs., lies completely flat, good on various terrains, etc.), not to mention that Emily's rave reviews on the single Bumbleride Indie don't hurt the cause.
So, Interwebs, any of you have any experience with this double stroller or others? Did you opt to use the options on the Uppababy for two kiddos? I absolutely adore my Vista as a single stroller, but am apprehensive as a double. I'm game for any and all opinions (aside from those who think that spending this much on a stroller is rediculous - to each their own I say).
Very nice! Looks like it has a ton of storage space underneath.
ReplyDeleteI only have one little one so take my comment for what it's worth, but I think a side by side double stroller might be more difficult to maneuver than a single width double stroller. (Like your uppa with the rumble seat.) I know many stores at the mall are tight for a single - a double would be impossible. (Retailers - make your aisles wider! I bet it's difficult for people in wheelchairs too.) I think getting through a doorway alone would be a bit tricky also as you'd need both doors open.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought - but it sure is a beautiful stroller!
Given HUTs age, I'd opt for a sit n stand. We have a double BOB, single BOB, sit n stand and an umbrella - we use the double BOB a lot for walks (we live in a walkable neighborhood), but the sit n stand works better for museums etc. My kids are 20 mo apart for reference.
ReplyDeleteI nannied for two boys who were just about 2 years apart. The older one was super active, but he would sit in the double. Sometimes. It was great to have since I took them on many long walks and to the park. However, navigating a double through places like Starbucks, Target aisles, and small shops was a bit of a nightmare. I see the value in having the side by side double, but I imagine a tandem would have made life a lot easier. My hope is to use our Uppababy + Rumble when the time comes!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a second with about the same span as you (20 months). I also have the Vista and am Curious why you are doubting the Vista? I was planning on just getting the rumble seat and maybe the board and using it as a double. Slightly disappointed I can't use the bassinet.
ReplyDeletei don't even have a kid and i find strollers fascinating, so i can understand the desire to have the latest and greatest! you probably already saw this, but the combi sport seemed to win some people over (not sure if it could accommodate a carseat, though):

We are in fact going through this very same debate. Right now, we are in the mindset that we may not need a double stroller...yet...and that we can manage with carrying our newborn in a carrier and still use our single for our toddler. I'm realizing that will quickly change and that down the road we will in fact need one, and if that's the case, why not make the decision today and get it early to save us the hassle of managing each kid individually.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is for sure for us, we are deciding to go with a double long stroller instead of a double wide, because of space constraints and maneuverability. Every single parent we spoke to insist on the double long instead of the double wide.
I wonder if you already have a stroller that can convert into a double long, that it is actually a non-issue instead of buying a double wide (which every single parent I spoke to insist was a mistake). I would hate for something so expensive proving to be a big mistake. They are such an investment!
So, we are not quite to this point, as baby #2 is not yet on the way, but of course I've already given it some thought. My friend has the Baby Jogger City Elite, which has lots of possible configurations, but it's $$$ and it's heavy! She said she would probably end up getting a side-by-side as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to say that I'll just wear baby #2 for awhile and push LC in the stroller, but let's face it. It's freaking hot here for most of the year, so as much as I wanted to, babywearing never really worked out for me.
At this point, I'll probably keep this Joovy at the top of my list. http://www.joovy.com/p-55-scooterx2-stroller.aspx We have a Joovy jogging stroller that I love. The quality is excellent, and the price can't be beat. I also believe that there is no such thing as a perfect stroller, so I have a feeling that when it's all said and done we'll have like 6 strollers (we have 3 now) and be able to open our own used-stroller boutique.
