Friday Round-Up

Sometimes I forget to respond to comments, I'm overwhelmed with the great advice that you guys give me and don't know exactly how to communicate my thanks, or I just have thoughts that come to my head that I always forget to share on this blog of mine, so I'm going to do "Friday Round-Ups" on Fridays where I feel like things need to be addressed and random thoughts need to be shared. Obviously this is one of those Fridays!

1) Thank you so much for the kind comments on my appearance and hair from my "We're Back" post from Monday. You don't know how much that means to me at the moment. We all go through phases of hating how we look, and being at my heaviest + pregnant is definitely one of mine. Hearing your sweet comments does a girl, and her ego, good.

2) RE: the double stroller. A ton of you made some valid arguments for and against the Bumbleride Indie Twin stroller. Ideas that I had never even though about. So, here goes our crazy and expensive plan. We've purchased the stroller. The Jet color that I originally wanted at $719 is on sale on Amazon for $699 and, while we are super early in making our purchase, we decided to knock that hefty expense out of the way early so that we can concentrate on other new baby purchases later on in the pregnancy.

{ thanks to Amazon Prime, this badboy arrived yesterday and is already assembled and hanging out in our dining room... for the next 5-6 months }

With that purchase made, we are also going to keep our Uppababy Vista as well. We'll purchase the rumble seat to try with both kiddos. Although we could have sold it and used the money towards the new stroller, we want to actually have them both to use to see which we like best. Who knows - we might like them both but for different reasons and different occasions and keep them both indefinitely. We will see.

I've never been reasonable when it comes to strollers, so now we'll be a family with four: the Snap N Go, the UPPAbaby G-Luxe, UPPAbaby Vista and Bumbleride Indie Twin. We're good to go for, oh, probably the rest of our lives in the stroller department.

3) I'm a total Gilligan & O'Malley fan. Some of my favorite loungewear, jammies and underthings come from their line. Now that those upperbumps of mine have started to grow with nearly the same fury as my belly, I've had to do a little upgrading in the bra department. Because I see absolutely no point in getting a regular bra while pregnant, I was super happy to find that Gilligan & O'Malley at Target had quite a few nursing bras and preggo panties on sale. Because my ass seems to be growing with the same fury as well. Awesome.

The clearance prices aren't shown online, I got two bras for under $10 each and two pairs of underthings for about $4 a piece. Not too shabby!

4) After getting some advice via Twitter, I took the plunge and bought my first piece of ASOS maternity wear today. I was looking for a dress to wear to a casual engagement party for my cousin, and I loved the idea of this dress:

{ dress  - and the model is 5'11" so there is no way that this will be quite as short on my barely 5'2" frame}

5) Speaking of said wedding, my cousin has asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. On December 1. I'm due January 13.

Totally flattered and excited to be asked, but fear having photographic evidence of my large preggo body that late in pregnancy.

Fingers crossed that at my appointment next week the doc says that she's cool with me traveling to the wedding as long as everything with this pregnancy seems hunky dory in the months leading up to the date. Anyone else traveled later in their pregnancy? I know I'll be cutting it close, but she's my only girl cousin and I'm so pumped about her getting married!

  1. yay for the stroller! i think it's worth it to keep the uppa for now to see which one you guys like.

    my doctor told me not to travel during the last month of pregnancy, so as long as you're feeling okay, i don't see why not! you may want to check the airline's policy on flying during pregnancy, and since you will be further along, it may be safe to have a note from your doctor ok'ing the travel. you'll be a beautiful pregnant bridesmaid!
