DIY Front Door Numbers

After seeing this post on Pinterest, I knew that I wanted to try out some door numbers on our house...

Although I'm really loving the numbers above, I wanted to make something cheap and easy, so I headed to Hobby Lobby to see what I could figure out. After perusing the aisles twice, I finally decided on some wooden numbers at $1.99 a piece.

I already had some flat silver spray paint on hand. I first spray painted the letter white to make sure that I didn't want that color on our front door. I didn't - too bright. I then painted over them with the flat silver.

I didn't want to use anything permanent to attach them to the door because I don't like anything too permanent, so I ended up with this:

Scotch(R) Removable Mounting Squares , 1 x 1 Inches, 16 squares ,Grey(108) }

I just cut them to fit around the numbers. I eyeballed the center of the door, started with the 3 and then put the other numbers on either side. I'm too impatient to actually get out a ruler and level.

So here's the final product:

I'm not 100% on them because the wood was obviously not cut exactly perfect, but I like the addition to the door, so they are staying for now. I might eventually try to find numbers like the ones from Pinterest, but this is a nice quick fix for now!
