Well, traveling with HUT has been quite the adventure this time around. It's a whole new ballgame when you travel with an 18-month-old on an almost three hour flight and try to get him adjusted to a two hour earlier time zone. Whilst pregnant. And without your husband.
He's been a champ, save for the last 40 minutes on our flight where he just wanted to be able to run around and got a little antsy. No fussing or crying, just a few headbutts to mommy and a little temper tantrum. Otherwise a nice hour nap in flight, along with about 30 minutes of Cat in the Hat (his fav) on the new dvd player we purchased, managed to get us through the majority of the flight relatively unscathed.
{ In the Admirals Club at the airport aka the baby saver. The kids room helped wear him out for a nice hour nap on the flight }
HUT fought his first naptime in the pack n play yesterday, but after letting him CIO for 30 minutes, he slept for about 40. That was the only nap that we got. He was a tad moody during the day, but ended up having a great time at the 4th party that we attended and he crashed on my shoulder around the same time last night, and then easily went down in his own bed, and he didn't wake up until 7am this morning.
{ He was so tired last night that he actually fell asleep standing up in the pack n play. It took about 5 minutes before he laid down for good. }
So now that it looks like we are adjusting to Cali time, and we've survived a flight essentially on our own (my mom sat away from us, so I was pretty much solo on the flight) - I have to say it isn't that bad. Yeah a few moments here and there of meltdowns and moods, but we work it out. And the weather here is awesome - I think I might cry when that Texas heat hits my face again. Although seeing the U will definitely be nice! There's something really true about that saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" - you really miss your husband and realize what a family unit you've become when you go out of town without him.
