Shopping for a Boy

I think I've posted on here once before about how difficult I find shopping for a little boy to be. I have some issues with most boys' clothing because it usually falls into one of three categories:

1) Emblazoned with cheesy quotes.
2) Sports apparel.
3) John-johns.

My child is usually not dressed in any of these three categories. Nothing wrong with those clothes if you like them, but like I said in my last post, it's not for me. I'm more of a "dress him like a mini-man" person, which many people hate as well.

So I thought I'd update on two stores that have really been pulling through for me in the cute boy clothes category these days.

The first? H&M kids. While not the best quality in the world, they do have lots of stripes and cute pants. Their clothes, at least for my teeny toddle, run a bit on the large side. HUT wears their 6-9 months size. And, yes, he's 15 months. He's blessed with his daddy's skinny genes.

{ H&M Hat - $6.95 }

My other new obsession is Zara. I've been a fan of their women's clothes for a very long time, and I've admired their kids clothes from afar, but after my first trip to their kids' section in person a couple of weeks ago, I'm a total convert. The price point is somewhere between H&M and Gap, as is the quality, and the outfits are oh so adorable.

As for shoes, we are loving the slip-on Vans and our TOMS most of all, with a side of these Haiden Surf flip-flops during the warmer days or when we're in a hurry to get on the road.

And, yes, I realize that this post is almost exactly like the one that I linked up top, but I don't care. I need to reiterate my love for these stores because it is SO hard to find cute boy clothes.

Anyone else out there have a boy? Where's your favorite place to shop?

  1. You're not alone... H&M sizes are huge! My son is almost 20 months and he's still in 12-18 mos, true he is on the slender side, but still... he can even fit into some 6-12 cardigans. I like their quality for kids. I'm loving the polos and belted shorts. I just about purchased every colour (of the shorts) last month.

  2. These are such great alternatives to the typical boy apparels present in big brand stores. As for the quality, at this age, it really doesn't matter because they grow out of their stuff so quickly anyways. I fear that if this child in utero does indeed turn out to be boy as I am predicting, that I would be extremely disappointed in the apparel selection, especially when compared to my first born with whom I had such a great time putting together her wardrobe.

  3. Is it weird that I want the both clothes from Zara for myself? :)

  4. I love this. Finding cute baby boy clothes has been surprisingly difficult, and I love your little HUT's style. Thanks for sharing!
