My SIL had little snacks in bins, the rink provided drinks and they had a nice big cake. It was a really fun party, and perfect for their age group.
Or for 30-year-olds.
Yup, I most definitely strapped on a pair of rollerblades and showed off my sweet moves that I still have thankyouverymuch.
But aside from all of that jazz, I couldn't believe the nostalgia that comes along with the skating rink. Although I went to a totally different one while growing up, it was just the same. Same smell, same carpet, same games. Man, how many birthday parties did I have and attend at the rink?!?
It. was. awesome.

And how much fun do I think an adult party would be at this place (if only you could rent it out and bring booze along)?!?
Oh wow! Talk about blast from the past- I grew up on Shoreview! One of my friends actually rented out that skating rink for his 21st Birthday and we had a blast. It's fun to kick-it old school sometimes and how great that your niece wanted people to donate to charity instead of give her presents.
ReplyDeleteOne of my girlfriends did this for her 32nd birthday and it was a BLAST! We had pizzas delivered, a mix on the Ipod connected to their sound system and tons of adult beverages on hand. You are making me want to go skating now :)
